Responsible for the management and supervision of qualified and non-qualified building trades staff in the provision of planned preventative maintenance and a responsive reactive maintenance and repair service to hospital and associated community properties. Knowledge of building structures and fabric as well as fire compartmentalisation and fire door maintenance will be essential for this role.
To be the main contact for site related issues and liaising with Facilities assistants, contractors, estates and clinical teams to resolve and manage any issues that may arise
Main duties of the job
Working as part of a large team you will be required to be smart and have a courteous attitude in keeping with the Estates and Facilities high standards. There is close communication with the compliance team, contractors, works and ward staff to achieve a high compliance standard which is presented on our compliance dashboard.
·Be the central point of contact and primary liaison for all building related matters in PMCYP and NDBH.
·Be a key contact in the event of an emergency in PMCYP and NDBH.
·Ensure H&S checks are completed on a monthly basis.
·Induct new members of staff to the building.
To follow health and safety guidance/policy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
1. Central Point of Contact
1. Act as the primary liaison for KCL, MBS, SLaM services and all NDBH wards, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues raised.
2. Chair the PMCYP Building User Group and maintain its terms of reference and membership.
2. Management of Communal Areas
3. Oversee cleaning, landscaping, and upkeep of communal areas in both NDBH and PMCYP (including the PMCYP 4th‑floor balcony and NDBH 4th‑floor garden).
4. Support bookings for shared spaces such as sports hall, rooftop, gym, and gardens (level of support with wards to be agreed).
5. Coordinate deliveries and support staff safety alarm testing and ASCOMs coordination.
6. Manage bike rack codes and raise Planet FM requests as needed.
3. Evacuation and Lockdown Procedures
7. Act as lead contact for the Fire Brigade and key liaison with DSN during fire evacuations.
8. Manage lockdown procedures in NDBH.
4. Access, Reception and Day‑to‑Day Support
9. Conduct daily floorwalks and provide inductions for new starters.
10. Offer support to front‑of‑house teams and act as the escalation point for visitor, patient, or family concerns.
11. Manage staff/visitor access cards and door groupings and provide support for onsite security matters.
5. Health & Safety
12. Complete environmental audits (Tendable), Health & Safety checks, and monthly fire checklists.
13. Coordinate building‑related audits, including ligature audits.
6. Policies, Procedures and Business Continuity
14. Support development and implementation of facility‑related policies and SOPs.
15. Maintain Operational Building Guides and ensure Business Continuity Plans are current.
7. Additional Operational Duties
16. Manage shredder maintenance and replacement.
17. Signpost CCTV requests appropriately.
18. Support Datix reporting for KCL/MBS within PMCYP.
19. Monitor Planet FM request progress and address delays.
20. Oversee contractors and building works.
21. Manage the PMCYP Changing Places facility, rear car park spaces, and access routes.
22. Oversee central building budgets for NDBH and PMCYP

Essential criteria
23. Health and safety qualification or experience to a high level
24. BTEC HNC. Managerial Qualification or Equivalent Experience (A)
25. full uk driving licence

27. Experience at a IT Literate using MS Programmes(Senior level in Facilities or Security Management.
28. Experience at a Senior level in Facilities or Security Management.
29. Experience of Managing Portering and Security teams, Contractors
30. Proven experience of providing Management reports and data.

31. Good knowledge of Estates practice within NHS.
32. The ability to work within a challenging environment with previous experience within this service sector
