The role
The Accountant is responsible for ensuring the Client Accounting and Financial Reporting for our Client(s) is managed effectively and in a timely manner, in accordance with Client requirements.
The objectives of the role include:
* Delivering high-quality Client and property accounting services that meet service levels required by the Client;
* Maintaining complete and up-to-date records and financial management, including applying accounting regulations, query management, service charge management, reconciliations, capex, opex, and other Client-specific procedures;
* Collaborating with surveyors, Clients, and team members to resolve queries;
* Supporting contractual compliance across the team, including meeting SLAs and KPIs on behalf of BNPPRE;
* Continuously improving processes for market-leading financial management in accordance with relevant legislation.
Processes
It is essential that this role develops, implements, and improves processes and procedures to ensure service delivery standards for internal and external clients are met; works with internal audit and compliance to ensure all requirements are fulfilled; and participates in controls of activities.
Service Delivery
The Client Finance department is crucial to service delivery for BNP Paribas Clients. The role involves:
* Working with management to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and control of daily tasks;
* Acting as the primary contact for surveyors and relevant parties regarding accounting service delivery;
* Producing client accounting records, including statements, profit and loss, balance sheets, VAT and tax reporting, charges, reconciliations, and query responses;
* Assisting with internal and external audits of financial information, procedures, and controls.
Responsibilities
Clients and Business Development
* Managing projects and collaborating with senior colleagues or external specialists as needed;
* Developing expertise in specific areas of the discipline;
* Enhancing BNP Paribas Real Estate's reputation through successful delivery.
Systems and Processes
* Evaluating, adapting, and improving standards and procedures;
* Participating in testing and implementing new system features to support accounting operations and contributing to BNP Paribas Real Estate projects.
Person Specification
* Highly numerate with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills;
* Experience in an accounting team within property management or similar environments;
* Qualified or part-qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent experience, with GCSEs including Maths and English;
* Tenacious, presentable, assertive, adaptable, self-aware, and self-motivated with professional demeanor;
* Conscientious with an understanding of accounting and data protection issues;
* Knowledge of accounting techniques, including general ledger transactions, is advantageous;
* Committed to excellent customer service and meeting deadlines;
* Commercially astute, innovative, and solutions-oriented;
* Organized, methodical, able to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines;
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with property management and accounting packages (e.g., Trace Tramps, Yardi Propware, Voyager, Qube Horizon) is a plus.
