Role Summary
We are seeking a full-time (37.5hrs per week) Band 6 Pharmacy Technician to lead our team and support pharmaceutical services across both primary and secondary care sectors in our dispensary-based environment, across Royal South Hants and Southampton General Hospital.
In this leadership position you will manage the day‑to‑day running of the department, prioritise workload, optimise workflow and support all grades of staff to deliver our services.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of over 30 staff, including pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants.
* Manage day‑to‑day operations of the University Hospital Southampton Dispensary and the Royal South Hants Dispensary.
* Prioritise workload, optimise workflow and ensure services are responsive to need.
* Represent the pharmacy at service‑user meetings and communicate with patients, doctors and other stakeholders.
* Collaborate with the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager – Dispensaries in review and strategic development of the service.
* Participate in weekend, late‑night and bank holiday rotas as part of 7‑day working across the dispensaries.
* Travel off site occasionally as required.
Qualifications
* GPhC registered technician.
* Hold a nationally recognised checking qualification.
* Completed a foundation management course or have equivalent demonstrable experience in day‑to‑day operational management of staff and workload.
* Excellent communication skills.
Working Hours
Core working hours are Monday to Friday 08:30 – 19:00 at Southampton General Hospital, and Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:00 at Royal South Hants. You will be expected to work one late‑night until 19:00 each week.
