Job Overview

The primary purpose of this post is to ensure the efficient delivery of patient‑focused care within key performance targets, while providing high‑quality administrative, communication, and organisational support to a designated number of trauma and orthopaedic consultants and their associated clinical teams. This role is essential in supporting timely patient communication, clinic management, and the smooth operation of the trauma and orthopaedic directorate.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide dedicated secretarial support to Consultants and their clinical teams.
* Ensure accurate, methodical work meeting deadlines and paying close attention to detail.
* Work effectively as part of a team, using initiative, strong interpersonal skills to help and reassure patients and liaise with a wide range of staff.
* Be flexible, proactive, and adapt to the varying demands and fast‑paced environment of the department, demonstrating resilience, planning and excellent organisational skills.
* Perform a variety of administrative duties, including document preparation, keyboard work and audio typing.


Required Skills & Qualifications

* Medical secretary/PA role experience preferred; knowledge of medical terminology and previous medical secretarial experience desirable but not essential.
* Competence in document preparation, keyboard skills and audio typing.
* Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, planning and excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to work accurately, methodically, meet deadlines and pay close attention to detail.
