This is a dual role providing driving and operative duties for Neighbourhood Services including Minibus Attendant and Driver duties for Transport Services. Transport Services To transport service users safely and in comfort in accordance with the daily schedule or as instructed by officers within Transport Services. Ensure that all duties undertaken are in accordance with Council/Departmental policies, procedures, standards or statutory requirements, including equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice. Neighbourhood Services Provide an effective maintenance and improvement service for Calderdale's Green Spaces and Street Scene, Bereavement Services, Parking Services, Community Protection Service and Waste Management Service. The specific tasks will include, but not limited to, routine maintenance, grass cutting and strimming, collecting domestic waste, delivering waste and recycling containers, and general street cleansing. A category D1 licence is required for this role. However, Category B licence holders (who have had this entitlement for more than 2 years) may also apply as the Council will provide training where a D1 licence is not held. Drivers must be over the age of 21. A medical exam will be required prior to appointment. The ideal candidate for this role will be someone enthusiastic, supportive who is passionate about helping others, and their communities. The individual will be flexible and adaptable being able to manage varying situations remaining calm under pressure and change, benefitting our Service users and the Service. The role is physically demanding and involves bending, lifting, carrying, and walking on a regular basis. A medical exam will be required prior to appointment. As an Operative, you will work predominately outdoors in all types of weather conditions, with some lone working. The post holder is required to work as a Minibus Driver or Attendant for the SEND morning school or day centre run, then carry out their duties in the Neighbourhood Operative role, before returning to the Transport Depot to carry out the afternoon return school or day centre run. The post requires some flexibility to meet the needs of both services including working outside of usual working hours such as occasional weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
