About us
The LSS is made up of 4 teams supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Salford. Each team comprises dedicated teachers and teaching assistants with relevant experience and qualifications, working closely with other professionals to provide the best service for children and schools.
About the Role
This part-time role (3 days/week) is for a Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) within the Salford Deaf Education Team (SDET). Based at Unity House, the teacher will deliver specialist teaching, training, support to SENCOs, and visit children with SEND across Salford. The role involves supporting children, young people, and their schools, especially after statutory decisions related to EHC needs assessments.
About you
You should be a qualified, experienced teacher with knowledge of SEN legislation and experience working with children or young people with additional needs. Experience as a ToD is advantageous, but the LA supports staff to obtain the mandatory qualification if needed. You should be comfortable managing a fluctuating caseload, providing assessments and advice across various ages and schools, and working with multi-agency partners. Confidence in delivering INSET and facilitating meetings is also essential. Join a dedicated team committed to providing excellent support to children, young people, and schools.
Note: This position requires a DBS check, costing £49.50, deducted from your salary over four months. If you do not start employment after processing the DBS, you will be invoiced for this amount.
