Overview
We are seeking an Electronics Engineer to join our team. The role involves applying problem-solving techniques—from theoretical modelling and simulation to hands-on prototyping and testing—to develop innovative and robust electronic designs. The role also involves representing the company in interactions with clients, suppliers, and internal project teams.
Responsibilities
* Analyse and solve electronic design challenges across development projects for medical and diagnostic devices, consumer products, biotechnology, laboratory and test equipment.
* Develop electronic designs from concept through verification and validation, including hardware bring-up and testing.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, compliant products across hardware, software and mechanical interfaces.
* Engage with clients and suppliers as part of project delivery.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
* Solid understanding of core electronic engineering principles.
* Proficient in interpreting and creating schematics, PCB layouts and hardware documentation. Experience with Altium Designer preferred but not essential.
* Proven experience in designing embedded systems and working with communication protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, UART and CAN.
* Strong systems-level understanding, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex interactions across hardware, software and mechanical boundaries.
* Familiar with key compliance standards such as EMC and electrical safety, with a good understanding of mitigation techniques required to deliver robust and compliant products.
* Practical skills including soldering, board bring-up testing, prototype assembly, fault finding and detailed performance testing.
* Capable of developing embedded firmware in C/C++ to support hardware bring-up, validation and functional testing.
* Proficient in using high-level languages such as Python for hardware testing, including instrument control, data acquisition and automated test sequencing.
* Demonstrates creative and analytical thinking when solving complex engineering challenges, balancing practical constraints with inventive solutions.
* Self-motivated and equally effective working independently or collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills – comfortable in a client facing role.
* A minimum of a 2:1 honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
Benefits
* Competitive salary (dependent on experience).
* 25 days’ annual leave with the opportunity to buy-back additional holiday.
* Discretionary profit bonus at the end of the financial year with potential tax-free portion through the Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) model.
