Assistant head of year (non-teacher)

Cleethorpes
Wellspring Academy Trust
Assistant
Posted: 3 September
Offer description

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Year to support the day-to-day running of pastoral care for a named year group. You will provide pupils with safe and predictable routines, encourage positive behaviour, and support inclusion in both learning and extracurricular activities. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils' personal development, attendance and progress, as well as strengthening home-school relationships.

Key responsibilities will include supporting student behaviour in line with Academy policy, helping pupils to reflect on challenges through restorative approaches, and promoting engagement in school life. You will maintain accurate records linked to attendance, behaviour and attainment, and contribute to data collection and reports for the Head of Year. The role also involves direct support for pupils and families, contributing to safeguarding and welfare, and assisting in the supervision of students at key times during the school day.

You will work as part of a wider, supportive pastoral team, reporting to the Head of Year and Senior Vice Principal. Wellspring Academy Trust and Beacon Academy believe in investing in our staff. We have a strong CPD offer, and all new staff will receive a supportive induction programme. If you are driven to ensure the highest possible standards of pastoral care and student well-being, then we warmly invite you to apply and join our friendly and ambitious team.

We are a small school where strong relationships are central. To support this, we are introducing a new coaching group approach for staff and students in September. Our students are enthusiastic and respond well to strong, trusting relationships with staff. Having recently appointed new leaders at the Academy, Beacon Academy has a renewed focus on student development, both academically and personally. We are about to embark on new and innovative strategies in school, so this would be an exciting time to join the team.

Ready to Apply?

We encourage any applicant to visit the school or book an informal phone conversation with a member of the leadership team. Please feel free to contact the academy via email at hr@beaconacademy.co.uk to arrange a suitable time. If you're as excited by this challenge as we are and believe this might be the role for you, please review all attached documents and submit your application by Wednesday 10th September. Interviews for successfully shortlisted candidates will be held soon after this date.

Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities

Wellspring Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils. All posts are offered subject to enhanced DBS checks. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore you are required to disclose any spent convictions, cautions, warnings, or reprimands which are not protected. As this role involves working with children in regulated activity, please note that it is an offence to apply for the role if barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.

References will be requested and an online search carried out for shortlisted candidates, prior to attendance at interview. Further pre-employment checks, including prohibition from teaching, childcare disqualification and section 128 checks, if deemed relevant for the role, will be completed for the successful candidate upon acceptance of the post.

We are committed to equal opportunities and to promoting diversity. We want our people to reflect the diversity of our communities, and we welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, especially from under-represented groups, including those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

Important Note for Overseas Applicants: If you are currently living overseas or have lived / worked overseas in the last five years please be aware that you will be required to provide an overseas criminal records check from the country/countries you have resided in, if you are the preferred candidate for the post.
