Level 3 Early Years Practitioner
Reports to:
Nursery Manager / Room Leader
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality early years education and care for young children, ensuring their individual needs are met within a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. The Level 3 Early Years Practitioner will actively contribute to the daily running of the nursery, promote best practices in line with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), and ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all children in their care.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver rich, engaging learning opportunities based on the EYFS framework, both planned and spontaneous, to promote children's development and independence.
Complete observations, assessments, and planning to effectively meet the individual needs, interests, and development stages of the children.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding and practical application of safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety policies and procedures.
Hold a valid 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate and be confident in responding to accidents, incidents, and emergencies in line with nursery procedures.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a supportive team environment, demonstrating excellent communication and decision-making skills.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children's progress, concerns, incidents, and communication with parents and carers.
Ensure all daily operational tasks are completed to a high standard, including setting up activities, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Engage professionally and effectively with parents and carers, building trusting relationships and offering regular updates on their child's progress and wellbeing.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of practice.
Participate in ongoing professional development and attend relevant training, meetings, and supervisions.
Skills and Experience:
Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, BTEC).
Minimum of 3 experience working within an early years setting (preferred).
Sound understanding and practical knowledge of the EYFS and child development.
Clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
Strong decision-making skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of nursery policies and procedures with the ability to implement them consistently.
Experience in planning and carrying out observations, assessments, and next steps for children's development.
Essential Requirements:
12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate (current).
Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Safeguarding and Child Protection training (current or willingness to update).
Commitment to promoting the welfare of children and safeguarding them from harm.
Hours: Term Time only or Full Time - Variable hours per week, Monday – Friday
