Non-Clinical Support Worker – Emergency Department
Closing date is 29 April 2026.
This role will be based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (Emergency Department) within the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
* Work in conjunction with all staff to maintain a clean and safe environment and ensure housekeeping jobs are completed satisfactorily.
* Transport patients around the department to radiology and to the admitting ward.
* Co‑ordinate all patient facility services within the ward area.
* Ensure the ward is a safe, clean, tidy and comfortable environment.
* Ensure food is available to meet patients' needs.
* Assist ward staff to receive, welcome and guide patients and visitors onto the ward.
* Assist in the preparation of bed areas on discharge of patients.
* Assist nursing staff with feeding of patients who are unable to feed themselves and complete food charts where necessary.
* Ensure all patients are afforded privacy and dignity throughout their stay.
* Ensure that there is an adequate linen supply throughout the day.
* Respond to health emergencies as appropriate.
Person Specification – Shortlisting Criteria
* Basic numeracy
* Previous experience of working with the general public
* Basic cleaning skills
* Demonstrated interest in learning and further education
