Purchasing Manager

Are you a Purchasing Manager with experience in a fast-paced telecommunications or product-led manufacturing environment, and confident using Sage?
We’re working with a well-established business in Northampton looking for someone to take ownership of site purchasing, driving supplier performance, cost reduction and material availability.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership and visibility across the business.
How will you make a difference?
* Lead and implement purchasing strategies aligned to business goals
* Source telecoms components, electronics, fibre and plastics globally
* Manage supplier relationships, performance, quality and delivery
* Negotiate pricing, contracts and commercial terms
* Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement
* Ensure material availability while optimising stock levels
* Support forecasting and demand planning with internal teams
* Oversee purchase orders and ensure compliance
* Manage supplier risk and contingency planning
* Support new product development and engineering change activity
* Lead stock control and coordinate stock takes
* Provide reporting and input into budgeting
What do we want to know about you?
* Proven experience in a Purchasing Manager or senior procurement role
* Background in telecommunications, electronics or similar environment
* Experience sourcing from UK, Europe and the Far East
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
* Proficiency in Sage (essential) and ERP systems
* Commercially aware with a focus on cost and performance
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
