Person specification

Qualification

* Current registration with relevant professional body
* English at GCSE grade C or Functional Skill Level 2 & Maths at GCSE grade C or Functional Skill Level 2
* Recognised mentoring qualification or equivalent experience
* Expectation to undertake Enhanced Practice qualification or equivalent.
* Demonstrates evidence of on-going continuous professional development.
* Diploma level training or equivalent in specialist area.

Experience

* Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of best practice, particularly within specialty area and the application of this in practice
* Experience of managing change as part of service and practice development.
* Demonstrates ability to apply research-based practice and advocate it to improve the quality of patient clinical assessment and management.
* Experience of supervising, teaching, mentoring and developing staff.
* Experience of implementing, commenting on and proposing changes to policies and protocols.
* Able to demonstrate ability to deliver training and education to patients.
* Able to accept responsibility for working under own initiative within boundaries of role.
* Demonstrates commitment to working as part of a team and ability to build the team.
* Experience of working in partnership with all levels of staff, evidencing the ability to plan and co-ordinate the provision of care.
* Experience of participation in research and development, and clinical audits in own specialist area.

Technical skills competencies

* Clinical reasoning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Demonstrable ability to work in a busy environment and resilience when the service is under pressure.
* To be competent to deal calmly and professionally with patients, relatives and work colleagues in a confidential and sensitive manner
* Able to accept responsibility for working under own initiative within boundaries of role.
* Ability to analyse and interpret information from patient assessment and interventions.

Knowledge

* Able to demonstrate theoretical and practical, knowledge of uro-gynaecology specialty and common presentations.
* Understanding of the theory and application of Clinical Governance.
* Ability to demonstrate a depth and breadth of understanding of current issues and policies and have the ability to translate into practice.
* Understanding of the principles of effective budgetary management.

Other requirements

* A commitment to improving patient services through an ability to sustain a clear performance focus on achieving demanding goals.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, using a range of methods, e.g. verbal, written, record keeping, complex report writing.
* Able to deal with demands of rapidly developing and changing service, problem-solving and prioritising abilities.
* Ability to support and respond positively to change.
