Biomedical Scientist - Reference Chemistry (HCPC registered)
Join the Biomedical Scientist role at Synnovis. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Reference Chemistry department as part of a spoke laboratory located in the Heart Sciences Centre at Harefield Hospital. Operating 8:45–16:50, Monday to Friday, and on call 10:00–14:00 over weekends and bank holidays.
The post holder will join a small team of BMS and MLA staff and, following appropriate training, will participate in weekend on-call to maintain service provision. You will be reporting to the Operations Manager and will hold a variety of responsibilities to ensure the successful delivery of Reference Chemistry services in line with our corporate objectives.
The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, a good team player, and someone looking to gain valuable experience in Mass Spectrometry.
Key responsibilities include:
* To participate in the provision of the Immunosuppression Drug Monitoring Service, performing a range of highly technical procedures within the laboratory to a high standard in line with department standard operating procedures.
* To assist in day-to-day tasks within the laboratory including stock control and instrument maintenance.
* To perform all core scientific work, consistent with training and qualifications of a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS); to comply with departmental policies, protocols and standard operating procedures including health and safety.
* To assist the department in complying with UKAS ISO15189 standards.
* To improve professional expertise and specialist skills by active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.
* To participate in the weekend rota after appropriate training and competency assessment.
