Offer description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are in the fortunate position of attracting many new members to our Child and Adolescent Mental Health team over the past couple of years. We are proud of the developments we have been able to achieve together as a growing multidisciplinary team. There is an energy and optimism that we can continue to see our service grow and continually improve for the children and young people we serve, but there is a lot of work still to do. We need enthusiastic and skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to join our team.

Whether you are an experienced clinician looking for an exciting change or at the early stages of your career (qualifying in 2025) we want to hear from you. There are opportunities to work in a number of different areas of our service, with these posts having an initial focus on helping our service achieve the Referral to Treatment Target. Whilst we have many different specialties within our team, we have the advantage of all being located in The Phoenix Centre, next to Raigmore Hospital, providing opportunity for both support and learning from MD colleagues across the service.

We are interested in learning about what you are passionate about, we want to benefit from your skill set, but also see you grow and develop in your role. We are supportive of CPD and ensuring we know your training needs identified through your personal appraisal and offering opportunities for post qualification training in specific therapeutic modalities.

The Highlands are a playground for those loving the outdoors. If you are not active coming here, you run the risk of becoming that way! There is stunning geography for you to explore but also urban amenities like Eden Court Theatre, restaurants, bars and shops in Inverness. If you enjoy (or see the benefit even!) of loch swimming, there are opportunities to go after work with the hardier members of our team.

Part-time hours will be considered and a relocation package may be available.

If you are interested in making the move to Inverness and would like to talk to members of our team who have done this do let us know and we can set up a conversation for you to find out more.

Informal enquiries welcome to: Dr Tracy McGlynn, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, 01463 705597, nhshighland.phoenixcentre@nhs.scot

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
