Widcombe Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive clinical team for approximately 16 hours per week across 2 days.
We are a well-established, forward-thinking GP practice caring for approximately 8,900 patients in Bath and are part of the Bath Independents Primary Care Network. We pride ourselves on providing high quality patient care within a supportive team environment focused on collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
We are looking for a nurse with experience in general practice treatment room duties, although applicants with transferable skills and a willingness to develop within primary care are encouraged to apply.
Flexible working arrangements may be considered for the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake a range of nursing assessments and provide appropriate care and treatment in line with practice policies and protocols.
The role will include:
* Wound care management and dressings
* Cervical cytology
* Childhood and adult immunisations
* Chronic disease management
* Health promotion and lifestyle advice
* ECG's
* Supporting patients with long term condition management
* Opportunistic screening and preventative healthcare

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake a range of nursing assessments and provide appropriate care and treatment in line with practice policies, protocols and clinical guidance, working closely alongside the GP and wider multidisciplinary team.
The Practice Nurse will work collaboratively with colleagues to support the delivery of high quality patient care, promote health and wellbeing, and encourage patients to manage their own healthcare needs where appropriate. The role requires the ability to work within professional boundaries whilst contributing positively to service development and continuous improvement within the practice.
The post holder will be expected to maintain an awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and work in accordance with practice policies and procedures within a healthcare environment.
A full employment history will be required as part of the recruitment process, including explanations for any gaps in employment.
Knowledge of key elements of Primary Care, including the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and CQC requirements, would be beneficial for this role.
Person Specification
* Qualifications: Registered General Nurse (currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council)
* Experience: Evidence of appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to ensure knowledge is current and maintaining competencies; Experience of working autonomously and also as a member of the Team Engagement with revalidation process; Ability to evaluate safety and to understand the effectiveness of own clinical practice.
