BUYER
Reports to: Business Manager
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00
Based: Glasgow, with occasional travel to regional offices (Warrington and St Albans)
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Annual Bonus: Up to 30% of basic salary bonus linked to performance
Flexible working: There may be flexibility in working hours following successful completion of probation period and business needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Buyer is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process across the PTG Group, ensuring best value, quality, and service from suppliers. This role will drive cost efficiency, standardisation, and compliance across all business units, while supporting the Group’s strategic objectives and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Procurement
6. Develop and implement Group-wide sourcing strategies aligned with business and operational objectives.
7. Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and supplier consolidation.
8. Support the development and roll-out of Group procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
Supplier Management
9. Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best commercial and contractual outcomes.
10. Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and ethical compliance.
11. Monitor supplier performance, address issues proactively, and conduct regular reviews.
Operational Buying
12. Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, including requisitions, purchase orders, and contract management.
13. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities meet operational and budgetary needs.
14. Maintain accurate records of transactions, supplier data, and pricing agreements.
Data, Reporting & Compliance
15. Analyse spend data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
16. Ensure all procurement activity complies with Group policies, health and safety standards, and legal requirements.
17. Contribute to audit and risk management processes through accurate reporting and documentation.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
18. Partner with Finance, Operations, and other business units to align purchasing decisions with Group strategy.
19. Support digital transformation and process improvements within procurement.
20. Promote sustainability and CSR initiatives through responsible sourcing practices.
REQUIREMENTS (ESSENTIAL)
21. Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role, ideally within a multi-site or Group environment.
22. Strong negotiation, commercial, and supplier relationship management skills.
23. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
24. Strong analytical skills with experience using procurement or ERP systems.
REQUIREMENTS (DESIRABLE)
25. Experience within the construction or security sectors.
26. CIPS qualification (or working towards it).
27. Understanding of sustainability, ESG, and ethical sourcing practices.
