Overview
Shift Maintenance Engineer (Multiskilled) at Mars Petcare factory in Batley, Kirklees, West Yorkshire. Focus on machine maintenance for specialized packaging equipment, including flow wrapping, pick and place robotics, and secondary/tertiary packaging machinery.
Collaborate as part of a four-person engineering team under the guidance of the Engineering Team Leader to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on production lines and take ownership of designated areas, driving continuous improvement through digitalised analysis.
Location: Batley, Kirklees, West Yorkshire. Contract: Permanent. Salary: £50,400 - £56,700 (inclusive of shift allowance) dependent on experience. Performance-related company bonus. Shifts: 12 hours, 7-7 with rotation: 2 days 2 nights (5 off), 2 days 3 nights (4 off), 3 days 2 nights (5 off). Key responsibilities
* Perform fault diagnosis leading to resolution of random failures on production machinery, identifying root causes and implementing repairs.
* Escalate technical issues to the days support organisation when appropriate.
* Provide technical experience and information to assist others in resolving equipment issues.
* Ensure the safe and required delivery of all services into and out of the factory during the shift (including steam, air, water, gas and electricity).
* Plan maintenance activities for self and others to maintain smooth transition between maintenance and production availability of equipment.
* In conjunction with the area engineer, ensure that the right planned preventative maintenance is completed.
Qualifications
* Solid engineering foundation through a recognized apprenticeship; HNC in electrical engineering is preferred with strong mechanical aptitude.
* Proven knowledge of 415 V distribution, motor control, PLC software, process control philosophies, Level 2 systems and networks. Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge is advantageous.
* Understanding and knowledge of a broad range of electromechanical devices; reasonable knowledge of H&S regulations.
* Computer literate with familiarity of internal software packages (e.g., Atlas PM, SAP, Microsoft Office).
* Experience with FMCG environments; Rockwell PLC fault-finding knowledge is desirable.
