Are you an experienced Operations Manager ready to lead and optimise operations in a dynamic environment?
A leading organisation is seeking a skilled Operations Manager to oversee and enhance the entire operational process related to explosives storage and supply in KwaZulu-Natal. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive leader with a strong background in safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key duties include:
1. Leading operational planning and resource management to meet customer demands efficiently and safely
2. Ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations such as the Mine Health and Safety Act and OHS Act
3. Managing stock, logistics, and financial performance to support business objectives
4. Driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimise processes and reduce costs
5. Leading safety audits, risk assessments, and fostering a culture of safety within the team
6. Developing and managing a high-performing team through coaching, training, and performance management
7. Maintaining excellent customer relationships to exceed service expectations
8. Preparing and presenting operational, safety, and financial reports to senior management
The ideal candidate will have:
9. A Diploma in Mining, Mechanical, or Explosives Engineering
10. At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role within an operational or explosives mining environment
11. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Explosives Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, and OHS Act
12. Proven financial management and operational planning skills
13. Experience in SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality) management
14. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
15. Proficiency in MS Office applications
16. Blasting Certificate (MQA) and Advanced Blasting Course (advantageous)
