Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles, ensuring all vehicles remain safe, roadworthy, and compliant with legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailersDiagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and rectification techniquesPerform MOT preparation and inspections to DVSA standardsComplete preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtimeRepair and replace mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic componentsEnsure all work is completed safely and in line with company proceduresAccurately complete job cards, service sheets, and maintenance recordsMaintain a clean and safe working environmentComply with health & safety regulations at all timesProvide breakdown support as required (if applicable)
Skills and Experience Required:
Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / TechnicianRelevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent)Valid HGV driving licence (Class C or C+E) - desirable but not essentialStrong diagnostic and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of DVSA regulations and vehicle safety standardsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamGood time management and attention to detail

Experience working with mixed fleetsTrailer maintenance experienceIRTEC accreditationExperience with diagnostic software
