Overview
Medical Examiner Service Operations Support Officer. This role provides administrative support to the MES Senior Medical Examiner Officer and Medical Examiners Service team, liaising with stakeholders such as Health Boards, Primary care and Coroner Services, and handling information requests from organisations including Health Bodies, Coroners, Registrars and the bereaved.
Responsibilities
* Provide efficient and effective secretarial, organisational and administrative support for the MES Senior Medical Examiner Officer and Medical Examiners Service team.
* Prioritise work and manage competing demands and interruptions; act as first point of contact for enquiries from stakeholders and other relevant organisations, taking detailed and accurate messages with confidentiality.
* Organise, distribute and deal with all correspondence, including electronic filing as appropriate.
* Respond to information requests from organisations such as Health Bodies, Coroners, Registrars and the bereaved; solve delegated problems logically and make decisions appropriate to the post.
* Assist with preparation and coordination of audits and distribution of reports throughout the service.
* Provide information to relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals and the Coroner/Registration Services for operational queries.
* Maintain competence with IT systems including Microsoft Excel and Datix and keep up to date with software/tech developments.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Essential: NVQ Level 3 in a business administration or management-related subject, or equivalent administrative experience.
* Essential: Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, e-mail and internet; ability to adapt computing skills to new software.
* Desirable: Knowledge of Datix and SharePoint.
Experience
* Essential: Experience in an administrative role / office environment; experience working under pressure to strict deadlines; experience in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Desirable: Experience of working within the NHS.

* Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to organise and prioritise competing tasks effectively.
* Adaptable to change; professional manner; able to use initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.
Other
* Able to work hours flexibly; able to work in an agile environment; ability to travel within the geographical area.
* Desirable: Welsh language ability.
