Job Title: Performance Test Lead Location: Cardiff (Hybrid Working) Salary/Rate: £450 - £470 Start Date: Immediately Job Type: Initial Contract Until End of June (Extension Likely) We are seeking an experienced Performance Test Lead to play a key hands-on role within a large-scale, multi-wave cloud migration programme. This is a foundational position within an organisation that does not currently have an established performance testing capability, offering the opportunity to shape strategy, tooling, and best practice from the ground up. The programme involves migrating a significant portfolio of enterprise applications from on-premise data centres into Azure and Google Cloud environments over a multi-year period. This is a highly practical role requiring strong technical delivery capability alongside stakeholder engagement and governance alignment. Job Responsibilities/Objectives Lead the design, build and execution of performance test strategies across multiple migration waves Create detailed performance test plans aligned to infrastructure and application change Execute load, stress, endurance and resilience testing across cloud and virtualised environments Perform performance validation of cloud networking (latency, packet loss, bandwidth, resilience) Deliver performance tuning recommendations backed by evidence Produce clear performance test summary reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders Work closely with development, infrastructure and DevOps teams to embed performance engineering principles Support "Shift Left" performance testing within CI/CD pipelines Provide coaching and knowledge transfer where required Required Skills/Experience The ideal candidate will have the following: Proven experience leading performance testing within cloud migration or complex enterprise environments Strong hands-on experience with: JMeter (Java-based scripting) LoadRunner (C-based scripting) Azure Load Testing / Azure App Testing BlazeMeter (including Taurus) Experience executing load and performance testing within Citrix environments Azure architecture performance modelling and validation Cloud networking performance validation API performance testing (JMeter, Postman) Front-end performance profiling (Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights) Integration of performance testing into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines Strong governance, reporting and stakeholder communication skills Desirable Skills/Experience Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client: Performance test plan per migration wave or major infrastructure change Executed performance test cycles with documented outcomes Performance tuning recommendations with supporting evidence Performance test summary reports suitable for governance forums If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply now with your updated CV in Microsoft Word/PDF format.
