Role Overview
SPC oversees firms and individuals in the wholesale markets, creating and reviewing the rules that govern them and ensuring effective competition. The Capital Markets Department focuses on supervision and policy relating to wholesale financial markets, including primary markets, credit ratings and benchmark providers, trading conduct and transparency, and wholesale crypto‑asset markets.
Responsibilities
* Lead and inspire effective teams by setting a strategic direction aligned to corporate goals, motivating a diverse team, and ensuring consistently high‑quality outcomes.
* Drive teams through change, aligning work with new policy priorities and regulatory frameworks, and delivering with confidence in an evolving environment.
* Leverage deep regulatory or industry insight to engage credibly with senior stakeholders and communicate complex policy issues to the public.
* Manage a broad and demanding portfolio of work, balancing priorities, meeting deadlines, and delivering tangible results.
* Support the wider Capital Markets Department by driving initiatives that grow the business, reinforce market integrity, and encourage innovation.
* Communicate with clarity and persuasiveness, building trust and alignment across teams, partners and stakeholders.
* Mentor and develop staff, sharing knowledge, building capabilities, and supporting succession planning.
Minimum Skills Required
* Significant experience in people management, including leading diverse teams, motivating staff, and providing strategic direction aligned with corporate objectives.
* Demonstrated judgement on complex regulatory issues, with clear accountability for outcomes.
* Prior supervisory or relevant industry experience in wholesale financial services.
