About Us and The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to step into this management role within Warwickshire County Council’s Strategic Finance team. This is a critical role, working with senior leaders at the heart of strategic decision-making, to deliver a complex portfolio of work.
The ideal candidate will be professional and enthusiastic, and ready for a new challenge to help us take our team and processes to the next level. You will be a qualified accountant with at least three years’ post qualification experience in a similar role.
The role will provide outstanding strategic, technical and specialist financial advice and support to the Head of Strategic Finance, the Director of Finance and Corporate Board, working with the wider finance service and directorate leadership teams on all aspects of financial planning and management.
Managing a team of three direct reports, we are looking for someone who can maintain motivated and high performing teams with a commitment to excellence and continuous professional development.
With an ability to influence thinking, build strong relationships and work collaboratively, you should be comfortable explaining complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner to non-financial managers as well as working closely with a wide range of stakeholders and external partners.
The role will develop, monitor, and evaluate the Council’s Annual Budget and Medium-Term Financial Strategy, including the management of available financial resources and reviewing the adequacy of reserves.
You will ensure implications of changes to the system of local government finance and government initiatives are understood by the organisation and reflected in the Medium-Term Financial Strategy.
In addition, you will also support the strategic vision and implementation of the Council’s Delivery Plan, through reviewing new proposals and undertaking formal investment appraisals to assess the viability and financial benefits of future projects, ensuring proposals align with corporate objectives.
