BACKGROUND

Do you want to be part of Homecare's Clean Future agenda, changing how laundry liquids are created, manufactured, and packaged, replacing fossil fuel chemicals with renewable ingredients, creating low carbon footprint products, and making formulations biodegradable? If so, Unilever's Global Homecare Category is recruiting for its Laundry Liquids Design team at Port Sunlight, Wirral.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and career working on major laundry brands such as Persil, Surf, and Omo.

Understanding and meeting consumer needs is central to laundry product development. As part of the Claims, KBS, and Performance team, you will work in a multi-disciplinary environment, providing high-quality technical insights and data to support our Global Innovation Portfolio. This 100% laboratory-based role involves deploying performance tests under consumer-relevant conditions to design winning formulations, support product communications, and develop product demonstrations. We adopt a digital-first approach, capturing data using tools like ELN & SDC.

JOB PURPOSE

You will join the Claims, KBS, and Performance group in Homecare Liquids & Capsules R&D team, working closely with global formulation, digital, and performance teams. Your responsibilities include executing laboratory experiments for product assessment, claim support, and demo development, and generating reports in ELN & SDC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Conduct wash experiments for performance and sensory testing, supporting formulation assessment, new technology evaluation, performance transfer modeling, claims, and demonstrations.
* Prepare for performance tests, including fabric and stain ordering, and set up laboratory equipment. Post-wash measurements and data analysis are also required.
* Operate laboratory equipment such as washing machines, dryers, and small-scale appraisal tools.
* Organize fabrics, stains, and monitor stocks to meet testing needs.
* Analyze data and report results clearly using digital and Microsoft tools.
* Capture and report experiment outcomes using ELN & SDC.
* Manage team budget using Easy budget tool and report monthly.
* Send fabrics, stains, and products to external labs.
* Participate in team meetings and plan laboratory work weekly with agility.
* Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe laboratory environment.

ALL ABOUT YOU

KEY SKILLS

* Good organization and time management
* Excellent communication and proactive approach
* Proficiency with digital tools like MS Excel, PowerPoint, ELN & SDC, with ability to report experiments clearly
* Ability to work within multi-functional teams internally and externally

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* BSc or MSc in Physical Sciences or Engineering (Textiles or Chemistry) or equivalent

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* Experience in FMCG or detergents sector
* Textile or washing machine testing experience

* This role is 100% laboratory-based and requires full-time presence.
