Test Leader (Team Manager) – Automation – £65K - £70K plus benefits – Bristol or Birmingham Hybrid (2 days onsite within commutable distance of Bristol / Birmingham)
The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Test Lead / Team Manager to join a high-performing delivery team, leading the testing strategy across a range of impactful digital projects.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical automation expertise with the ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams. You’ll play a key role in shaping testing approaches, improving quality practices, and ensuring successful delivery across the full software lifecycle.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead and coordinate testing activities across one or more projects
* Define and implement test strategies and automation frameworks
* Work closely with engineering, product, and delivery teams
* Provide clear quality insights and reporting to stakeholders
* Drive best practices in automation and QA
* Mentor and support testers, helping to grow team capability
* Contribute to estimation, planning, and continuous improvement
️ What We’re Looking For
✅ Essential Experience
* Proven experience as a Test Lead / Senior QA
* Strong hands-on experience with test automation tools such as:
o Cypress
o Selenium
o Cucumber / Robot Framework
* Experience building and maintaining scalable automation frameworks
* Demonstrable team leadership or mentoring experience
Technical Environment
* CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
* Containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Cloud platforms (AWS or similar)
* Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible – desirable)
Soft Skills
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement
* Collaborative mindset with experience in Agile environments
* Proactive problem solver with attention to detail

Location
