Sales Solution Engineer (MoD Equipment) – Special Products

We are currently recruiting for a Sales Solution Engineer (MoD Equipment) within our Special Products Division.

This role requires a unique blend of engineering expertise and sales acumen and involves generating and fulfilling sales into specialist boat contractors (initially support UK MoD). The product range will include Barrus Marine Equipment, with the wider focus to support with bespoke and specific items (some commercial off the shelf, some designed for specific applications)

Key Accountabilities:

o Provide technical consultation to customers, understand their requirements, and recommend suitable product options from within the current Barrus offering.

o Offer in-depth product knowledge, including specifications, performance, and features to recommend tailored solutions.

o When outside of the current offering, evaluate case to source/build bespoke as required.

* Technical Proposals

o Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proofs of concept tailored to customer needs.

o Define product requirements and specifications based on customer insights, market research, and business goals.

o Integrate new technologies to enhance product innovation and quality.

o Manage prototypes, performance testing, and validation phases to ensure products meet technical and regulatory standards as well as ensuring the product is built in line with specification.

* Technical Sales Support

o Effectively address technical questions and support the sales team in resolving objections during the sales process.

o Support sales teams and develop solutions that align with customer objectives and technical requirements. Provide clear documentation, drawings, costings and proposals.

o Act as a trusted advisor by providing strategic technical guidance to customers during the sales cycle and beyond, ensuring product specifications meet their needs.

o Ensure all job cards have been costed accurately and closed in a timely manner once any works have been completed.

o Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, marketing, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of projects and customer satisfaction.

o Build strong relationships with key customers.

o Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in marine technology and industry trends.

* Infield Support

o Provide in-field support as needed to meet customer requirements. Confirm that any chargeable work is accurately processed by the office and promptly invoiced to the customer.

Professional Experience:

* BSc / BE / BEng in engineering, related field or equivalent experience
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Engineering
* Preferably experience in a sales or customer facing role
* Familiarity with marine engines, propulsion systems, and related technologies (advantageous)
* Understanding of the marine industry, including regulations, standards, and market trends.(advantageous)

Key Skills Sought:

* Computer skills essential including 3d CAD Modelling (Autodesk Inventor used within EPB).
* Excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills, written and telephone.
* Strong interpersonal, customer focus, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
* Willingness and ability to travel
* Quick to grasp new ideas and concepts.
* Flexibility in attitude to working requirement.
* Aptitude for working under pressure in a structured, efficient manner.
* Thorough attention to detail
* Accurate and timely completion of tasks
* Enthusiasm to work within a close and cooperative team.

Commutable 2 days working in the office, 3 days customer facing (South Coast mainly)
