BCUHB has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Radiology Informatics Team as PACS Support Officer.
Working as a Radiology Informatics Officer you will be primarily responsible for the sharing of confidential patient information with our partner organisations, providing first-line support for our Radiology IT Systems and dealing with enquiries in an effective and timely manner.
You will be a well organised, working in a methodical and structured way at all times, with the ability to think independently and problem solve.
Applicants must demonstrate effective communication skills, enthusiasm for the role, be well-motivated and share a commitment to team working. The technological remit of the department continues to expand and therefore the candidate would need to be open to continued learning of new systems and processes to meet the technology needs of the diagnostic imaging services.
Main duties of the job
Providing a full technical and administration service to the PACS Manager and Administration Team, and Radiology Management Team, using his/her own initiative.
Reporting issues and problems to the PACS Manager and Administration Team and taking action as agreed and when necessary in their absence.
Dealing with telephone and personal enquiries from staff and the general public in an appropriate manner, confirming that complex messages are understood by the relevant individuals and influencing them to ensure appropriate actions are undertaken.
Reporting faults to Software Suppliers in the PACS Manager and Administration Team's absence. Tracking the action taken by the System Provider until any remedial action is completed.
Provide statistical information using standard system reports. To create reports for ad hoc data to analyse & interpret information for the department, Trust and Welsh Assembly Government as required.
Assist with registering, updating and maintaining correct patient demographics on the Radiology databases.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Desirable criteria
* Previous experience in a health and / or social care environment
* Understanding of Diagnostic Radiology services
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Good standard of general education to include English Language GCSE ‘O’ level or equivalent
* IT qualification
* Knowledge of additional computer packages e.g. Word, Excel etc.
* Previous office experience in a busy administrative role
* Ability to use a networked computer, select and operate IT software packages including the design of spreadsheets.
* Able to demonstrate appropriate use of initiative and work without direct supervision.
Desirable criteria
* Radiology or previous NHS experience.
