Assistant Project Officer (Cycling and Walking) | 8442 | Fixed Term Contract until 30 September 2026 | 37 hours per week | £27,711 to £30,060 per annum (Scale F) | County Hall
This exciting role will provide support to managers and project officers within the Active Travel delivery team, Environment Service. The Assistant Project Officer will assist with delivery of externally funded project work.
The Assistant Project Officer will provide administration and support for Environment Team services and externally funded projects, including managing budgets and financial data, purchasing, invoicing, communication, and other records needed for service level agreements, claims and reports. Creation and maintenance of delivery plans, risk registers and project highlight reports will also play a key part in this role.
The role supports the delivery of the Norfolk walking, wheeling and cycling strategy to create a healthier and greener Norfolk by enabling people to walk, wheel and cycle more often. Walking and cycling offers solutions to the problems of traffic congestion in our towns and improves quality of life, a stronger economy and an enhanced environment.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team to support with externally funded projects which enable people to cycle, walk and wheel more in Norfolk. They will need to work effectively as part of a well-co-ordinated team to achieve the agreed objectives in the Business Plan for services and projects.
The post holder will need to demonstrate an innovative approach which embraces new ways of working and an enterprising outlook towards maximising the value of partnership working, community and business sector involvement and securing external funding for the benefit of Norfolks people and its environment.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
* Support the delivery of services and projects from concept through to implementation
* Monitor service and project resources, programmes and budgets as required
* Provide information to enable Managers, Senior Officers and Project Officers to produce budgetary, financial and activity reports and claims
* Use systems and procedures as trained, for the control and delivery of service and projects
* Communicate service and project related messages through appropriate means
* Support with the production of reports and preparation of documents.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are essential in this role, as is the ability to work with financial information and organise own workload.
This is a fixed term position until September 2026.
