Lead Clinical Skills Practitioner

The post holder will lead the clinical skills team, responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating multiple clinical/procedural skills to Warwick University medical students, resident doctors and multidisciplinary client groups, both internal and external to UHCW NHS Trust.
The role requires autonomous work, flexibility, high skill and concentration, and the ability to respond to unpredicted issues within tight deadlines to meet curriculum and service needs.
Successful applicants will provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main Duties
* Managing the team of Clinical Skills Practitioners, direct line management, annual reviews, staff development, work plans, maintaining high standards of practice and education.
* Independently manage the clinical skills department – maintain equipment, disposables storage and rotation, H & S, COSHH regulations, sharps safety, slips & trips etc.
* Manage, draft and implement medical student timetables for skills teaching sessions and assessments during phase 1, phase 2, phase 3 and assistantship; liaise with the medical education team at UHCW and the admin leads at WMS to confirm students' capability to complete these.
* Teach clinical skills as required by the GMC for WMS students to achieve required competencies and the Trust goal to produce competent and safe resident doctors.
* Licence holder for the Acute Illness Management (AIM) course for UHCW NHS Trust.
* Named person responsible for quality assurance reports to the Critical Skills Institute Manchester.
* Licence holder for the Critical Skills Institute Manchester AIM train the trainer course.
* Maintain first aid instructor status of self and clinical skills practitioners.
* Research and draft teaching materials such as presentations and handouts; discuss and agree with the clinical skills team and other experts.
* Engage in all aspects of post graduate courses in collaboration with senior clinicians for candidates internal and external to the trust.
* Research and compose assessments for clinical skills sessions; collaborate with SWFT and GEH to gain consensus on materials developed for the WMS course, using a standardised approach adhering to national guidance.
* Organise procedural skills videos for medical student, resident doctor and multidisciplinary client use and ensure access on the Trust Medical Education intranet / internet site.
