Description Post Abuse Counsellor – Jigsaw Post-Abuse Therapy Service (0.5 FTE) Cornwall Council – Together for Families Directorate We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Counsellor to join the Jigsaw Team, a specialist service providing post‑abuse therapeutic support to children, young people, and their families who are supported by the Local Authority. About Jigsaw Jigsaw offers 10-session packages of therapeutic intervention for children, young people and/or non‑abusive parents following experiences of sexual abuse. The service also provides specialist consultation to social care colleagues to support their assessment and formulation of these concerns. Alongside this core remit, the team also delivers up to 20 sessions of post abuse support to other vulnerable groups, including children in care and care leavers. Why Join Us? We work alongside Clinical Psychologists who support children with complex relational and attachment needs and whose work is grounded in developmental trauma and attachment theory. Counsellors and Clinical Psychologists work closely together, including shared clinical work and through twice‑yearly team away days. About the Role This is a part‑time role (0.5 FTE / 18.5 hours / 2.5 days per week). The post involves both direct therapeutic work and indirect support to the wider professional network. Key responsibilities include: Delivering high‑quality, time‑limited therapeutic interventions to help children and young people recover from sexual abuse. Working primarily through individual sessions, with opportunities for group work where appropriate. Supporting the emotional well-being of children, young people, and their families, helping to reduce the risk of future harm. Contributing to assessments and multi‑agency treatment plans for young people who have experienced sexual abuse. Providing therapeutic interventions to children supported by the wider Clinical Psychology & Therapies Team (e.g., children in care and care leavers).
