Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Laboratory, providing essential support. Duties
Principal Responsibilities:
* To follow Laboratory procedures in accordance with an ISO 17025 UKAS-accredited Laboratory Management System.
* To ensure that tests arriving in the Laboratory are reviewed and identified.
* To prioritize Laboratory testing with reference to customer requirements and due dates.
* To prepare Lab samples for testing by the Lab (cutting, polishing / grinding, etc.)
* To carry out testing including (but, not restricted to) Tensile testing, Charpy Impact testing, Hardness testing, decarb evaluation, microstructure evaluation, grain size evaluation and, inclusion evaluation in accordance with in-house procedures, ASTM & ISO Standards and, an ISO 17025 UKAS-accredited Laboratory Management System.
* To produce Laboratory Reports from test results produced in the Lab.
* To work on own initiative in order to complete assigned workload.
* To maintain housekeeping standards within the department.
* Take a responsible approach to health, safety, and environmental risks in relation to your own job role and to control the risks or report them to management as appropriate.
* Fulfil training programs deemed necessary to allow efficient performance of duties and assist in your personal development.
* Any other duties as required, commensurate with job position.
Experience
* Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but training will be provided; we welcome candidates eager to learn.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential for this position.
* Strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for interacting with staff.
