About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Warehouse Manager to lead our warehouse operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, while ensuring high levels of accuracy, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, maintaining health and safety standards, and developing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all warehouse activities including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
* Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately, on time, and to customer expectations
* Optimise warehouse layout, workflows, and stock locations for maximum efficiency
* Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts and stocktakes
* Monitor and manage warehouse KPIs (productivity, accuracy, on-time dispatch)
* Lead, motivate, and develop warehouse staff, including supervisors and operatives
* Conduct training, coaching, and performance reviews
* Plan and allocate resources to meet operational demands
* Foster a positive, accountable, and continuous improvement culture
* Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and HSE guidelines
* Conduct risk assessments and maintain a safe working environment
* Oversee maintenance and safe use of equipment (e.g., forklifts)
* Ensure adherence to company policies, security, and quality standards
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
* Apply Lean, 5S, or similar methodologies
* Support optimisation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
* Collaborate with senior management to align operations with business goals
* Liaise with transport providers for timely deliveries and collections
* Resolve operational issues and discrepancies promptly
* Work closely with procurement, customer service, and production teams
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management in a fast-paced environment
* Minimum 5 years’ experience managing teams
* Strong leadership and people management skills
* Solid understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control
* Proficiency in WMS and Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of UK Health & Safety regulations
* Forklift licence (FLT) desirable but not essential
* Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
