Position Overview: This role involves creating and supporting electronic solutions for a wide range of industries, including automotive, renewable energy, communications, consumer products, aerospace and defense, security, healthcare, research, and space technologies. The projects are diverse and technically challenging, offering opportunities to apply a broad range of electronic design skills. As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team — including specialists in mechanical, electronics, PCB, and software — you will contribute across the full product lifecycle. This includes early customer engagement, feasibility studies, design and prototyping, through to manufacturing support. The role offers flexibility to work from home with company-provided IT equipment, though you will occasionally be required on-site at the electronics lab in Bedfordshire for hands-on hardware development, troubleshooting, and support. About You: We are looking for an experienced hardware design engineer with a track record of taking electronic products from concept through to production. You will be comfortable working to project deadlines, engaging directly with customers, and presenting technical information clearly and professionally. While an understanding of embedded software is useful, your core expertise will be hardware. You should be proactive, organized, and analytical, with the ability to work within established design practices. Qualifications and Experience: * Degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or a related subject. * Proven experience in electronic hardware design for manufacture. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with broad knowledge of electronic technologies. * Skilled in preparing technical documentation and reports. * Ability to communicate technical concepts to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. * Flexible design approach, adapting to project scope and client needs. Essential Skills: * Commercial experience in electronic product design. * Competence in mixed-signal (analogue and digital) design, including microcontrollers. * Proficiency in schematic capture tools (ideally Altium). * Methodical and structured design approach. * Strong technical writing and documentation abilities. * Experience with FMEA and structured problem-solving methods. * Knowledge of product approvals, compliance, and validation processes. * Ability to manage project schedules effectively. * Full driving license and willingness to travel to customer sites when required. * Eligible for security clearance (SC).
