Job overview

Applications are invited for a fixed term Consultant Radiologist post with a specialist interest in Musculoskeletal Imaging. Main duties of the job

You must be fully registered with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent, at interview stage.

This role will be based at Worthing Hospital but may require rotation across our sites.

The role requires a thorough grounding in clinical radiology including ultrasound and cross‑sectional skills in addition to subspecialty skills in Musculoskeletal imaging including joint injections.

There is the opportunity to participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings with the Rheumatology and Trauma & Orthopaedic teams.

The successful candidate will have good cross‑sectional skills in emergency imaging with an expectation to join the general on‑call rota for the base site. The Radiology departments across University Hospitals Sussex support teaching and the post‑holder will be expected to support clinical teaching and educational supervision.

* General elective and acute (hot) reporting
* General and subspecialty ultrasound lists
* Sub‑speciality reporting
* Supervision of radiology trainees
* Participation in multidisciplinary meetings (MDMs)
* Participation in diagnostic on‑call service
* Teaching and training of radiology trainees and participation in the radiology Master's (MSc) program

Time commitment and scheduling

Direct clinical care: around 8.5 patient assessments per week. Supporting professional activities: around 1.5 hours per week for CPD, audit, teaching and research. Sessions include general, acute, and home reporting, with up to two home reporting sessions per week as agreed.

On‑call arrangements include evenings (1700‑2100hrs) and weekends (8–10‑hour coverage). The role may involve overnight on‑call activity (2100‑0900hrs). Commitments are typically 4th‑level and carry additional DCC payments.
