Process Experimentalist – Particle Science
Orion Group Sciences is seeking a Process Experimentalist in the area of Particle Science on behalf of our multinational client based near Bracknell, on an initial 12-month contract basis.
Role purpose
Provide experimental and technical support for new and existing processes and products. The role will use physical science expertise, primarily in particle science and powder handling projects (compaction, flowability, etc.) and additionally for other process technology projects in fine chemical processing and manufacture.
Provide scientific input/data to technical studies in the support of chemical production sites globally.
Provide experimental and technical assessment in support of powder and solid-state characterisation.
This enables the improvement and development of manufacturing processes for new and existing products via the provision of technical understanding of material properties and their impact on processability and product performance to manufacturing plants and projects.Knowledge, experience & capabilities
Educational background in a physical science discipline or chemical/process engineering (e.g., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics) to at least bachelor’s degree standard.
Lab experience in physical property measurement (e.g. melting point determination, spectroscopy, surface area analysis, or solubility etc.) and/or physical characterisation techniques (e.g. particle size analysis such as laser diffraction, microscopy such as optical or SEM, powder flow/bulk property measurements)
