1. Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Minor Works Team
2. Location: Bury St. Edmunds
3. Contract: Permanent, hours per week
4. Start Date: End of August, or sooner.
5. Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum.
Hays are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic Minor Works team. You’ll be responsible for delivering safe and efficient electrical work, including repairs, planned maintenance, and safety checks across a diverse client base.
You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, and Cleaners, to help maintain a safe, secure, and well-managed environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your overall, day-to-day responsibilities will include performing planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of electrical systems covering the (very large) site. On top of your planned and reactive maintenance responsibilities, you will be working within the minor works team and will be responsible forpleting small works within the project to which you are assigned.
6. Perform planned and reactive electrical maintenance, installations, and repairs in line with Health & Safety regulations and SFG20 standards.
7. Emergency lighting, electrical sockets, PAT testing, fire alarm testing, electrical safety checks, water heaters etc.
8. Conduct inspections, PAT testing, and preventative maintenance.
9. Maintain accurate records of inspections and remedial actions.
10. Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance ispleted on time, in line with agreed SLAs.
11. Liaise with clients and provide excellent customer service.
12. Submit job reports within one hour of taskpletion.
13. Support team members and collect parts when authorised.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
14. Level 2/3 City & Guilds 2330 and/or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
15. Strong background in electrical installation and maintenance, ideally in facilities management.
16. Proficient in fault-finding, diagnostics, and digital record-keeping.
17. Full UK driving licence.
18. Familiar with a wide range of electrical systems.
19. Able to work independently and ensurepliance with information security standards.
20. Eligible for Security Clearance Vetting (must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years and have a clean criminal record).
21. Proof of right to work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
22. City & Guilds 2391 – Inspection & Testing (training available).
23. 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
24. Authorised Person qualification (current or previous).
25. IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety certification.
26. Experience working in highly secure environments.
