We are delighted to invite applications for a 12‑month fixed‑term maternity cover for the Highly Specialist Pharmacist – Immunoglobulin and Immunology post. The role provides oversight and operational leadership for the pharmaceutical aspects of the Immunoglobulin and Immunology services within North Bristol NHS Trust.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide leadership, delivery and development of the clinical pharmacy aspects of the Trust’s immunoglobulin, immunology and allergy services in accordance with Trust policies, national legislation and standards.
* Lead pharmacy team and ensure safe, effective and financially sustainable immunoglobulin service, including oversight of governance, commissioning, home delivery services, high‑cost medicines and home‑care arrangements.
* Develop and optimise clinical protocols, pathways, medicines governance and medicines optimisation initiatives for the Immunology and Allergy Service.
* Represent the Trust on the North‑of-the‑South‑West Sub‑Regional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel (SRIAP) and contribute to its strategic development.
* Line‑manage the Band 5 SRIAP Data Performance Manager/Panel Co‑ordinator and mentor rotational Band 7 pharmacists and Band 5 pharmacy technicians.
* Attend multi‑disciplinary team meetings and provide expert pharmaceutical advice in patient care.
* Support education and training of junior pharmacists and other health‑care professionals relating to clinical pharmacy and immunoglobulin use.
* Practice as an Independent Prescriber (desirable); welcome successful candidate to undertake a non‑medical prescribing role within the Immunology service.
* Collaborate with national networks such as the UK Immunology and Allergy Pharmacists Network; share best practice.
* Provide clinical pharmaceutical expertise to HIV outpatient clinics alongside highly specialist HIV pharmacists, expanding scope of specialist practice.


Person Specification


Education / Training / Qualifications

* Essential: UK registered pharmacist, clinical diploma or other recognised postgraduate qualification, evidence of continuing professional development.
* Desirable: Qualified Independent Prescriber.


Work Experience

* Essential: UK hospital pharmacy experience at Agenda for Change band 7; clinical pharmacy experience in a range of specialties in secondary care; experience of teaching or supporting learning (e.g. mentoring); experience of audit and quality systems; experience supporting home‑care medication services.
* Desirable: Experience delivering agreed objectives and KPIs; experience in immunoglobulin and/or immunology.


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

* Essential: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a range of professionals and patients/carers; time‑management, prioritisation and support others; proactive application of specialist pharmaceutical knowledge; ability to develop specialist knowledge; planning, managing, monitoring and reviewing therapeutic programmes; delivery of education and training; ability to review complex information (e.g., drug expenditure reports); knowledge of NHS financial and contractual systems.
* Desirable: Evidence of publishing (including posters); evidence of leadership.


Personal Qualities / Special Circumstances

* Essential: Adaptable, flexible approach to work; teaching, tutorial and clinical supervisory skills; ability to manage workload of others and set objectives; able to work under own initiative and as part of a team; excellent interpersonal skills; experience producing policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Desirable: Experience working with colleagues across organisational boundaries; experience in service development or project delivery.
