The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will be working on the development of a highly automated build system for Open Source projects into hundreds or thousands of container deliverables. You’ll research and bring state of the art Open Source techniques from a variety of Linux distributions and container builders in order to accomplish this. What you will do Building automation for rebuilding open source projects. Building automation for running tests against open source projects. Building automation for entire open source module ecosystems, such as PyPI or similar. Maintenance and iteration of a Tekton based build system. Participate in a distributed Agile Scrum team. What you will bring Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology-related discipline or equivalent experience Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision as a part of a geographically distributed team Good communication skills in English, ability to work as part of a team 1 year(s) of professional experience building containers 3 year(s) of experience contributing to Open Source projects. Deep experience using and operating Linux. Experience with GitHub actions, GitLab pipelines or similar CI/CD systems Experience with building open source projects into containers Experience with the build systems of multiple different Linux distributions. Experience working in distributed teams The following are considered a plus: Experience with Kubernetes and Tekton SRE background experience or operating container based systems. Experience with AI agentic and automation workflows.
