Department: Health, Business and Childcare and Education (GCSE English Delivery)
Report to: Curriculum Team Leader English & Maths
Contract: MC Lecturer, Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Lecturer Salary Scale Points 5–14 (£29,565 – £43,562 per annum).
Hours: 37 hours per week
Teaching Hours: 864 per annum
Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays
Pension: Teachers’ Pension Scheme

Progression beyond point 11 is subject to achieving and maintaining QTLS or QTS. Progression beyond point 14 requires Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).
Job Role
We areseekingan enthusiastic and motivated Lecturer in English to join Middlesbrough College. Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver ahigh‑qualityEnglish curriculum that meets the needs,interestsand abilities of all learners.
* Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that is conducive to learning and learner engagement.
* Use a variety of teaching strategies,resourcesand ILT to support progress and achievement.
* Use diagnostic assessment toidentifylearner needs and implementappropriate interventionor stretch activities.
* Maintainaccuratelearner records,registersand tracking documentation.
* Contribute to internal and external quality assurance processes, including awarding body visits and inspections (e.g. Ofsted).
* Actively support learner wellbeing,behaviourand progression, including availability outside scheduled teaching time whenrequired.
* Participate in professional development, industrial updating and College initiatives designed to improve teaching and learning.
* Promote and uphold the College’s values, safeguarding responsibilities,equalityand diversity policies.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
You will have:
* A relevant degree (or equivalent qualification).
* Qualified Teacher Status or a willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE supported).
* GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
You will ideally have:
* Experience of teaching GCSE English in a school or Further Education setting.
* Experience deliveringexam‑basedqualifications.
* Experience providing pastoral or wellbeing support to learners.
You willdemonstrate:
* Strong subject knowledge of GCSE English specifications and assessment requirements.
* An understanding of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
* The ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with learners, colleagues,parentsand external partners.
* A commitment to continuous improvement and sharing good practice.
