Exciting opportunity to join our team and work with our SENCO to develop this new role!

The successful applicant will be a member of our friendly and hardworking Pastoral Team and will play a leading role throughout the school to support the Senior Leadership Team in providing a safe environment for our pupils to learn in.
The postholder will need to build links and work in partnership with parents, carers, and professionals to promote the wellbeing of the children in the care of our school.
Candidates must have:
* Good standard of general education (minimum NVQ 4/ A levels or equivalent) with excellent English and Maths skills (5 GCSE grades C/good pass or equivalent)
* Skills to lead learning and supervise group activities safely, using strategies to meet pupil needs and manage inappropriate behaviour
* Relevant experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school setting
* Knowledge of policies related to safeguarding, child protection, health, safety, security, equal opportunities, and confidentiality
* ICT skills for communication, teaching, and learning
* Ability to devise and evaluate structured learning activities and assess pupil progress
* Good interpersonal skills to relate to children and adults effectively
* Influencing skills to encourage social responsibility among pupils
Main purpose of the job
* Undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with KCSIE and relevant guidance
* Collaborate with the SEND Team to enhance opportunities for children and families
* Build professional relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
* Provide 1:1 and group interventions for children with SEMH needs
* Coordinate with outside agencies like CAMHS/Social Services for referrals and support
* Make referrals to outside agencies with the SEND and DSL teams
* Act as liaison between home and school for pupil issues
* Work with the Emotional Wellbeing Team to support mental health needs
* Assist class staff with resources to remove learning barriers and monitor impact
* Manage parent support groups with the SEND team
Working hours are 8.45 am to 3.15 pm, 30 hours weekly, during term time. This is a permanent position. While primarily non-class based, there will be opportunities to work directly with children across the school.
