Overview
The Care Support Worker (Band 2) is an integral member of the Imaging team, working under the direct supervision of registered practitioners. The role supports safe, effective and compassionate patient care across designated Imaging areas, including antenatal imaging and A&E X-ray. The post holder will provide non-registered clinical support, act as a trained chaperone for intimate examinations, assist with patient preparation and movement, and support the maintenance of a safe and efficient clinical environment. The role contributes to patient dignity, flow, safeguarding and overall service delivery while allowing registered staff to focus on regulated imaging activity. The post holder will welcome and orientate patients, provide reassurance, support dignity and privacy, and assist with patient positioning and preparation for imaging procedures. The role includes acting as a chaperone for intimate examinations, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and chaperoning guidance. The post holder will support the maintenance of clinical areas, prepare rooms for clinics and imaging sessions, clean and restock equipment, and assist with the safe movement of patients and equipment. They will work collaboratively with Radiographers, Radiologists, Sonographers, nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The role requires flexibility to work across designated Imaging areas and a commitment to delivering high standards of patient care, safety and experience.
Responsibilities
* Welcome, assist and reassure patients and relatives in a compassionate and professional manner
* Support patient preparation and aftercare as delegated by registered staff
* Act as a chaperone during intimate examinations in line with Trust policy
* Assist with patient mobility, transfers and positioning using appropriate equipment
* Observe and report any changes or concerns in a patient\'s condition
* Prepare and maintain imaging rooms and clinic areas
* Clean equipment and clinical areas in accordance with infection control policies
* Assist with stock control, deliveries and equipment checks
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team
* Escalate concerns appropriately and in a timely manner
* Support a positive, respectful and inclusive working environment
* Work within Trust policies, procedures and competencies
* Maintain patient confidentiality and data protection standards
* Participate in training, supervision and Personal Development Reviews
* Contribute to audits, quality improvement and service development activities as required
