What You Will Do
Johnson Controls is hiring a Fire Alarm Service Engineer for a static on‑site role at a major facility in Teesside. We are looking for an engineer with strong experience in fire alarm systems, along with a willingness to develop further in gas suppression and mechanical suppression technologies.
You will be part of a dedicated on‑site team responsible for the servicing, maintenance, routine servicing, fault‑finding, and remedial works across fire detection, gas suppression, and mechanical suppression systems. The role requires a strong focus on safety, compliance, documentation accuracy, and high‑quality service delivery, with daily interaction with the client to ensure smooth operations and adherence to site protocols.
Typical systems include:
Conventional & addressable fire detection and alarm systems
Networked and graphical fire alarm systems
Gas extinguishing systems (Argonite, CO₂, Inergen, Novec)
Mechanical fire suppression equipment

How You Will Do It
Service, maintain, and fault‑find on fire detection and fire alarm systems
Receive training and development to progress into gas suppression and mechanical suppression systems
Carry out integrity testing (training provided if required)
Complete all on‑site documentation accurately using an iPad and service software
Liaise with the client to obtain permits to work and ensure compliance with site procedures
Attend mandatory training and maintain required certifications
Support occasional mechanical and passive fire protection tasks
Participate in the on‑call rota on a rotating weekly basis
Promptly identify, escalate, and report health and safety concerns
Conform to all QEHS regulations and contribute to a zero‑harm workplace
Sign onto RAMS, PPE requirements, toolbox talks, van audits, and accident investigations
Take part in internal technical audits and continuous improvement activities
Coach and support apprentices and new starters
Act as a key link between the client and your Field Line Manager, ensuring clear communication of completed works and outstanding actions
Represent Johnson Controls with professionalism, accountability, and inclusivity
What We Look For
Essential
Proven experience working with fire detection and fire alarm systems
Willingness to undertake training and certification in gas suppression and mechanical suppression systems
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Professional, team‑oriented attitude
Full UK driving licence
Flexibility to travel for training when required
Strong IT literacy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to participate in the out‑of‑hours callout rota
Desirable
Experience within a service‑focused business
Understanding of fire legislation, standards, and associated field devices
Experience with gas suppression systems and their maintenance
Experience coaching or developing others
