Role Information
The school is seeking a committed, patient, and proactive Pastoral Support Officer to join their experienced pastoral team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing daily support for students experiencing behavioural, emotional, social, or academic challenges
* Working closely with Heads of Year on behaviour interventions, pastoral plans, and restorative conversations
* Meeting parents/carers to discuss concerns and develop support strategies
* Monitoring attendance, punctuality, behaviour logs, and welfare concerns
* Delivering small-group or 1:1 pastoral interventions (e.g., self-esteem, resilience, behaviour support)
* Recording actions, interventions, and safeguarding concerns accurately using school systems
* Supporting reintegration meetings after exclusions or prolonged absence
* Liaising with the safeguarding team, SENCO, counsellors, and external support agencies
* Supporting the supervision of unstructured times such as break and lunch
* Contributing to pastoral briefings, year team meetings, and early help processes

Requirements
* Experience in youth work, pastoral care, behaviour support, or safeguarding
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and confidentiality
* Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Ability to stay calm, consistent, and fair when supporting challenging situations
* Strong organisational skills and accurate record-keeping
* A commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and supporting students’ wider development
