Overview
The post holder will support the Head of School in the strategic development of the School of Medicine, support the School’s operational programme, lead programmes of work within the School strategy, and will be a member of the School Board.
The post holder will also support the School’s commitment to delivering excellent postgraduate training, in Medicine environments which promote staff wellbeing, a positive learning culture, and a sense of belonging.
Responsibilities
* Support the Head of School in the strategic development of the School of Medicine.
* Support the School’s operational programme and lead programmes of work within the School strategy.
* Provide senior clinical oversight and strategic leadership for the regional Medicine teaching programmes.
* Ensure delivery of a high‑quality, engaging and educationally robust programme that supports trainee development and complements other regional educational activities.
* Work collaboratively with the Head of School for Intensive Care Medicine to implement the Medical Workforce Strategy in alignment with the Long‑Term Workforce Plan, supporting recruitment and retention of Medicine trainees to the North West Scheme.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Medicine training across the region, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.
Secondments
Applicants from within the NHS will be offered the role on a secondment basis only; agreement must be obtained from the employer prior to submitting the application.
