Business Support Team Leader – Inclusion, Skills & Education
Join Hertfordshire County Council’s Business Support Service as a Team Leader, overseeing the delivery of business support functions to services within the Inclusion, Skills & Education area. You will line‑manage a group of supervisors and staff, set priorities, plan projects and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Oversee delivery of business support functions to services within the CS Spoke, line‑managing 7 supervisors responsible for 50+ staff.
* Set longer‑term work priorities within the CS Inclusion, Skills & Education area.
* Work closely with the CS Spoke Manager to plan and align support to all services, maintaining management responsibilities in terms of setting standards and ways of working to drive consistency.
* Challenge existing practices, champion change and act as a role model for managers and staff.
* Plan and deliver results across a range of projects and areas.
* Manage diverse workloads with multiple deadlines and customers.
* Use complex systems and processes, and coach others to use them for best results.
Essential Qualifications
* Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) with several years of experience in a similar role or progressively more demanding relevant roles.
* Previous line‑management experience.
* Extensive experience in an administrative or support role with strong knowledge of business support activities.
* High‑accuracy written correspondence with tight deadlines.
* Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a range of audiences.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
* Experience working as part of a fast‑paced team.
* Ability to plan team work priorities over the long and short term.
* Enthusiasm and pride in your work.
* Experience in minutes‑taking and note preparation.
* Experience in research and recommendation reports.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience delivering training.
* Experience dealing with complaints.
* Understanding of HR policies and procedures.
* Project planning and delivery experience.
* Change management experience.
