Role: Cover Supervisor
Overview:
A Cover Supervisor is responsible for supervising secondary school classes during the short-term absence of a teacher. The role ensures that students remain engaged in learning and that the classroom environment stays orderly and productive.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher
* Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students complete set work
* Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
* Provide support to students and respond to general queries
* Take attendance and report any issues or incidents
* Ensure a safe and focused learning environment
* Liaise with teaching staff and report on lesson outcomes
Requirements:
* Experience working with young people (ideally in a school setting)
* Strong behaviour management skills
* Good communication and organisational abilities
* Ability to follow instructions and work independently
* A calm, confident, and professional approach
Desirable:
* Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant
* Understanding of the UK secondary school system
* Relevant qualifications or training in education
