We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Oncologist with an interest in gynaecological cancers to be based in Wrexham Maelor Hospital. This post is a replacement appointment which attracts 10 Programmed Activities and an on‑call payment. Newly qualified consultants will be offered 3 SPA's as standard. Applications are welcome from those who wish to work full or part‑time. BCUHB has 3 cancer centres consisting of a team of 23 consultants (11 clinical and 12 medical) providing care to the population of North Wales. We take pride in delivering exceptional care through multi‑professional collaboration, ensuring patients are supported throughout their journey. The successful candidate will be based in Wrexham Maelor Hospital within the Shooting Star Unit. The appointee will have an on‑call commitment at the North Wales Cancer Centre in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd on a 1 in 8 basis. Beyond clinical duties, there are opportunities to contribute to education and research as well as leadership functions.
Main duties of the job
* To provide specialist oncological services to the population served with special reference to the common cancers and agreed appropriate oncology subspecialties and to be an active participant in each of these multidisciplinary teams.
* To work closely with clinical consultant colleagues and to provide seamless cancer care for all patients.
* To work closely with colleagues in other divisions to assist in providing an efficient service for patients transferring between the different disciplines and during the patient journey.
* To liaise with colleagues in Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care to provide inpatient cover for oncology patients.
