About the role
Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week worked, working pattern is flexible.
This is an exciting role within the Fundraising Team at Ashgate Hospice to be an integral part of organising the varied events portfolio, including Chesterfield's biggest fundraising event, the Sparkle Night Walk.
The main responsibilities include:
* To assist with the planning and delivery of Ashgate’s event portfolio
* To build and maintain relationships with our fundraising event participants, to ensure supporters receive an excellent supporter journey and experience of the hospice, from registration to thanking
* Lead on a range of administrative tasks for the Events Team
* Recruit and retain event volunteers
* Organise promotional stands throughout the community
* Order and co-ordinate equipment required for events
* Thank event participants and supporters for their generosity in a timely manner
* Manage data and handle cash in line with charity procedures

About you:
We are looking for a highly organised individual who thrives from working with people and wants to make a real difference within the community. You will support individuals taking on events through their journey to raise vital funds for patients and their loved ones.
Skills and experience required:
* English & Maths at Level 2 or above
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
* Excellent administrative skills
* Ability to plan and prioritise to work to strict deadlines
* Strong literacy skills
* Ability to motivate and inspire others
* IT skills and proficient on Microsoft programmes, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Great telephone manner
* Self-motivated and a great team player
* Experience organising events (paid or voluntary)
* Experience of raising funds for charity
* Knowledge of Health and Safety best practice
* Procurement experience following processes and procedures
* Experience in a customer facing role
* Experience of giving presentations or talking in front of a group
* Good understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing
* Knowledge of the local community of North Derbyshire
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
* Ability to live the Hospice Values
* Ability to interact confidently with colleagues at all levels to build rapport, trust and confidence
* A thorough understanding of an ability to maintain confidentiality
* A willingness to work outside of core hours as required, including evenings and weekends
