What we are looking for Reporting to the Ticketing and Retail Manager you will be responsible for the smooth running of the Ascot Shop on racedays as well as the preparation and stock management in the lead up to racing. We have 5 shops on site over Royal Ascot, two in the Royal Enclosure and one per enclosure in the Queen Anne, Windsor and Village Enclosures respectively. This is a temporary role from Monday 16 June to Friday 27 June 2025 to cover the additional staff for the week of the event, as well as the break down of the temporary shops after the event. The hours are generally 09:00 – 17:00, with the exception of the event days which would see extended hours from Tuesday 17 June to Saturday 21 June which would be 09.30 to 19.30. You must be available for all the dates and times above. The pay rate for this role is £17.40 per hour inclusive of holiday pay. What you’ll be doing Principal Responsibilities Managing the day to day staffing of the shop, ensuring that there is good service coverage across the day whilst managing lunch breaks/comfort breaks and stock replenishment Acting as the first point of escalation for any customer enquiries or complaints. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards Maintain a fully stocked store Ascertain customers’ needs and wants Recommend and display items that match customer needs Welcome and greet customers Manage point-of-sale processes Actively involved in the receiving of new shipments and stock management Keep up to date with product information Accurately describe product features and benefits Follow all Company policies and procedures Skills and experience you can bring Proven working experience in retail sales is desirable Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices Proficiency in English Solid communication and interpersonal skills Customer service focus Friendly, helpful, confident and engaging personality Basic administration skills Committed to raising the standard in every aspect of working life Ability to work under pressure and deliver deadlines Ability to communicate in a proactive and positive manner Ability to be flexible and adaptable Integrity, commitment and diplomacy The willingness to work in a spirit of partnership Excellent attention to detail Accuracy at all times An understanding of the events industry and the rhythms in which this functions An understanding of retail POS systems is desirable.
