Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex, there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations, and three top-tier local authorities, with seven district, borough, and city councils, as well as our local universities.


Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an admin assistant to join the Nutrition & Dietetic department here at Broomfield Hospital. We are a department of Dietitians and 2 Dietetic Assistants. We are involved with delivering dietetic care to all inpatients within the hospital, and we also have dietitians who deliver this in the community. This role would involve supporting the department in booking or cancelling clinic appointments, speaking with patients on the telephone, and supporting the dietitians with all admin related to patient care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide day-to-day support and administrative service to the Dietetic team. They will organise their own workload to ensure an efficient service. Responsibilities include managing clinic diaries, handling incoming telephone calls, emails, and written correspondence, preparing papers for meetings, and taking minutes.

The post holder must demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues and respond to queries professionally and empathetically, using judgment and decision-making skills. They should be able to convey information clearly and accurately via telephone and electronic communication, based on verbal and documented reports.
